Hope you get a great deal on it so you can out more of your money to fixing it the way you'd like.
What's with all the baseboard heaters? Those would have to go for me, I would rather have central heat/air.
I see lots of 'opportunities'! The kitchen actually isnt that bad...but egads, their choice in wallpaper....well, sucked! lol. I hope it works out and that you have fun creating your own masterpiece!
I second the powerwashing on the deck...easy fix. The garage paneled walls could be painted a lighter color. The bathroom floor looks nice...just needs new wall color! I agree there are definitely opportunities here. Fingers crossed for you.
Hmmm, the wallpaper in the stairwell ... I definitely know that wallpaper. I bought it at a garage sale for $10 about 15-20 years ago and papered a bedroom. Stripped it off before I sold my house in 2006. It was a good solution at the time!
The toile -- my SIL used to have it in her dining room, and it was pretty with her antiques. However, it's long gone now, too.
Wallpaper used to be THE thing; don't be hard on your predecessors! Trends come and go, and what you do now will look silly in 20 years.
wow! I hope you get it with little delay and aggravation. The space for the next 'trends.' If you like their suggestions you will be 5 plus years ahead. Every paint outlet has books and coordinating color systems without charge. They can color match any fabric swatch or item you bring them for free custom colors. I suggest using good quality paint, better coverage, less work, lasts longer. Paint not selected by price, by titanium content or check consumer's guide for their best buy.
Removing wallpaper can be frustrating. It depends on how the wall was prepped before it was hung. Take your time and try to do as little damage to the wallboard as possible. Every divot will need to be repaired as wall problems are very visible when painted. If there is only one layer of wallpaper, and if it is really well attached, you can experiment with painting over wallpaper. Fresh paint can cause the wallpaper to bubble and show seams or...look ok if you're lucky.
If you chose well, you can double the value of a house with good decor [when the housing market finally recovers].
Umm, yeah, I frown on wallpaper, not becus I don't like it, but becus often when someone else has put it up they've been lazy and there's more than 1 layer of wallpaper OR they put up the wallpaper to hide walls in poor condition. Short of re-sheetrocking, that's all you can if the walls are in bad shape (like mine).
It definitely has some issues, but think of it this way. Because it is so bad and you want to change it, you are given the complete freedom to do it however you want. The blue wallpaper is awful and the striped wallpaper is even worse in my opinion, as it reminds of the Waltons (tv show) or something like that. If you do buy it, post some pics of your re-dos. It might give us some ideas. Good luck.

I like toile - but that IS a bit much (either valance and shower curtain, or wallpaper and border NOT both).
Good luck on your offer being accepted.

I would have the roof reshingled and I would pressure wash the deck before moving in.
The rest I could live with for a while until I got in the mood to paint and remove wallpaper.
