10 years of salary history....

June 20th, 2008 at 01:22 pm

I thought this was an interesting analysis... here is the last 10 years of our combined salaries:

Year Gross % change
1997 50,611
1998 57,689 14%
1999 55,202 -4%
2000 67,661 23%
2001 63,206 -7%
2002 75,662 20%
2003 82,818 9%
2004 82,458 0%
2005 99,966 21%
2006 89,425 -11%
2007 97,282 9%

The declines in 99 and 01 represented when I went out on unpaid leave to have our children. Also, in 2006 there was a decline because I dropped a part-time job since we were moving to a new part of the state. All in all, I'm pleased with how we have progressed. In ten years, we have seen our gross income increase $46,671.

    Not bad!

I keep track of our social security income history. Our income has been a tad more erratic. LOL.

I actually track our retirement contributions as a percentage of whole life income. It's rather motivating.

excellent paperwork trail! I admire the organization it took to compile this list.

gamecock43... I actually have all the paystubs organized and filed by year so it wasn't too hard to put together. I guess I'm pretty Type A about keeping anything and everything that might be useful someday.

sillyoleme... We are both state employees... DH is a teacher and I work in the finance office. I would make so much more in the private sector but I just can't beat the fact that I can retire at 55 with full benefits for the rest of my life... job security is also a big plus.

Are paystubs something i need? I am pretty type A about keeping a clutter free and non messy house, so i throw away all paper the second i deem it unnecessary. I def dont have pay stubs, i throw them out pretty immediately.

i always keep my pay slips, in aus you're meant to keep your financial records for 5 years. or is it 7? anyway.
it is interesting to see someone elses income. it is sort of taboo to ask how much another earns (i once got in trouble for asking where another, higher-up, work colleague bought a shirt) so i admire you (and everyone here of course) to put it out there. Big Grin good work!
